Stockyards Championship Rodeo - Addresses EHV-1 Outbreak (Equine Herpes Disease)

EHV-1 Outbreak Update

On Behalf of the Stockyards Championship Rodeo to all Horse Owners,

In lieu of the recent outbreak of EHV-1 (Equine Herpies Disease) being locally documented. We strongly insist you to have your horses vaccinated for said disease. There has been one confirmed case of a barrel horse that has recently traveled to Decatur (NRS Arena), Denton and the Cowtown Coliseum (American) on 2/15/17

All pens, arena and warm-up arena of the Cowtown Coliseum have been sterilized to help prevent any lingering bugs and/or bacteria.

The incubation period is about two weeks, so if there are newly contracted horses, they should be starting to show symptoms.

We strongly insist you to temp your horses daily. If your horse is running a fever, please quarantine and contact your vet immediately.

The Cowtown Coliseum holds animal welfare in the highest regard, and asks you to please do so as well. Please be responsible. Check your temps daily. Again, if your horse is running a fever, or showing other symptoms, quarantine and call your vet IMMEDIATELY.

Stay safe and GOD bless

Sincerely,

Stockyards Championship Rodeo
