Stockyards Championship Rodeo Report
February 9 & 10
Mason Taylor from Maypearl cashed in Saturday night at the Stockyards Championship Rodeo when he rode Scarface for 83.5 points to win $1,000 in the bull riding. The large pay-out was due to him having the only qualified bull ride for the weekend and Friday night’s bull riding money rolling over to Saturday night.
The barrel racing prize money was spread across the country with cowgirls from not only Texas but also Wisconsin, California and Minnesota placing over the weekend.  Cricket Gitner from Eau Claire, WI., won $722.67 Friday night with a 13.87 and Andrea Cline from Springtown won $512.86 Saturday night with a 14.04.
Shane Slack from Idabel, OK., dominated the tie-down roping for the weekend, winning Friday night with an 8.39 and Saturday night with a 10.68. His take for the weekend was $768.68. Slack is a two-time qualifier to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and was the 1996 overall Rookie of the Year and tie-down Rookie of the Year in the PRCA.
Wyatt Muggli has won two consecutive Tesky’s custom trophy saddles for being the high-money cowboy for the year at the Stockyards Championship Rodeo, and he is off to a quick start to win his third.  The Lane, OK., cowboy headed for Blake Bentley to win Friday’s team roping and $489.28 each with a 5.38.  Brenton Hall from Jay, OK., and Clay Futrell from Union Grove, N.C., posted a 5.28 to win Saturday night, earning $403.66 each.
Madison Milligan from Washington, TX., won Friday’s breakaway roping and $466.24 with a 2.02, while Abby Medlin from Stephenville won Saturday’s breakaway roping and $291.40 with a 2.37.
Bronc riders struck out in the bareback, saddle bronc and ranch bronc riding with no qualified rides for the weekend. The good news is the ranch bronc riding this Saturday will offer a $500 jackpot with the money that will roll over from this weekend.
